One of these New Jerseyans could be Kelly Ripa's co-host — for a day

Three New Jerseyans with charm to spare have made it to the top 20 of a national search to co-host “Live with Kelly” with Kelly Ripa — well, for a day.

Ripa’s former co-host Michael Strahan departed the show in May after ABC’s sudden announcement that the former Giant would be moving to “Good Morning America.” Although a number of high-profile names have filled in for Strahan since, including Neil Patrick Harris, Andy Cohen, Anderson Cooper, Jerry O’Connell and Jussie Smollett, Ripa and her producers haven’t settled on a permanent replacement yet. (It definitely won’t be Anderson Cooper, who just signed a new deal with CNN.

Ripa announced the competition for a non-celebrity guest host last month, asking viewers to send in a video pitch about why they would be the ideal benchwarmers. Producers narrowed down the prospects to 40, and on Thursday’s show, Ripa and guest co-host Fred Savage revealed the final 20, which included Stephan Zimkin of Plainfield, Buki Elegbede of Newark, and Dena Blizzard, a former Miss New Jersey who lives in Moorestown.

Viewers can view their videos here and vote through Sunday for the top 10. Five of those be chosen to travel to New York and audition live, with the winner joining Ripa on Oct. 21.
